When I was younger, one of the games I enjoyed playing was basketball.
Basketball is a team sport, and I probably started playing it when I was 6 or 7. I first started playing the game when I saw my basketball idol at the time, Lebron James, play with the Miami Heat. I guess I thought he looked pretty cool on TV, and I wanted to play just like him!
Basketball is played on a basketball court, and I was really lucky that there was one just outside my house. Kids from all over the neighbourhood used to gather there and play every day. Most of the time we played 3-on-3, but occasionally, if there are enough players, we'll play 5-on-5. That was when you knew the game was about to get serious!
I still love the game of basketball. I don't play it as much now because of my bad knees. It is a sport which emphasises on teamwork, but still has room for individual flair and creativity. Not many sports can boast about the same. When my kids are a little older, I would love to play basketball with them.
