Strategies for Part 3.

In Part 3 of the Linguaskill General Speaking test, you'll be asked to speak about something personal or close to you.

Unlike Part 1, all questions in Part 3 will be scored so attempt all questions in Part 3 seriously.

In Part 3, you'll first listen to a set of instructions.

After that, the question and a few prompts (usually 3) will be displayed on the screen. At this point, you will have 40 seconds to think about what you are going to say.

Finally, you will be given 1 minute to speak.

Part 3 contributes 20% to the total points of your final Speaking test score.

You should focus on doing strongly for Part 3 of the Speaking test if you need a high Speaking score. This is because Parts 4 and 5 are usually much more challenging as you will likely be presented with questions, themes, and topics that you will not be familiar with.

To prepare for Part 3, you should think about the topics below and practise what you would say about them.

A great strategy for tackling these topics is to use the **** ******** purchase which we've covered previously in the Writing strategy section.

You can check out the **** ******** in *********** ******* > ******* > ****** *** ***** > *******; *******; *** ***** ********** ** *****. As a quick reminder, **** stands for ****, ***, *****, ***, ****, *** *** purchase.

Here is an example of how to use the **** ******** in answering the question: **** ** *** **** ** ** ** **** **** ****? purchase

Step 1. **** *** *** ******, *******, ** ********** ** *** **** ** ** ** **** **** ****? purchase

Step 2. *** ** *** **** ** ** ***** ***** ** **** **** ****? purchase

Step 3. ***** ** *** ** ***** ***** ** **** **** ****? purchase

Step 4. *** ** *** ** ***** ***** ****? purchase

Step 5. **** ************ ** *** ** ***** *****? purchase

Step 6. *** ** *** ** ***** ***** ** **** **** ****? purchase

You might be wondering if the order in which you answer matters. No, the order does not. You may answer whichever of the above that comes naturally to you. However, the vocabulary items that you use in your answer matters significantly...

While the **** ******** should help structure your thinking, using it will only take you so far. To ensure that you score your best in Part 3, you will need to demonstrate *** *** ** ********** ***** **** *** ******** ******* ** *** ********. purchase

  • When speaking about Step 1, you should consider using ****** ***** such as *******, ******, **********, ********, *********, ** *********. purchase
  • When speaking about Step 2, you should consider using ****** *****, **********, or ******* ** ****** such as *********, **********, ** **** *** *** ****. purchase
  • When speaking about Step 3, you should consider using ***** related to ******, *****, ** ********* such as *** ****, ********* ****, *********, ** ******** ****. purchase
  • When speaking about Step 4, you should consider using ***** related to ****** such as *******, *******, *******, ** **********. purchase
  • When speaking about Step 5, you should consider using ***** related to ***** *** **** such as ********, ********, ***** ******, ********, **********, ** ********. purchase
  • When speaking about Step 6, you should consider using ******* ***** related to ************** ***/** *** ******** *** ** ******** ****** such as ...**** * *****, **** ***** ** *** ********* **** ** **** *****. purchase
